The researchers got human cells and monkey cells to divide and grow together in an artificial uterus where three embryos survived up to 19 days after conception.

– The overall message is that each embryo contained human cells that spread and differentiated to varying degrees, says Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, developmental biologist at the Salk Institute Biological Research Center in California.

However, Izpisua Belmonte promises that he does not intend to transplant any fertilized ones embryos in living monkeys, writes Nature.
