The Symfonisk painting speaker can be hung vertically or horizontally on the wall. You can also link two and connect them with a wire. The speakers are equipped with AirPlay 2, but do not work with Bluetooth. Streaming music is done via WiFi. Previously, IKEA and Sonos jointly released a bookshelf speaker and table lamp speaker. The latest product will be available in IKEA stores from 15 July and from 1 September you can choose from interchangeable panels. You can also buy them online.

According to Stjepan Begic, product developer at IKEA, it was important that the product could be seen as a work of art. The company engaged a designer for this, who made two variants for the first series with a line pattern in black and white, which visualizes sound.

The Symfonisk WiFi speaker comes standard with this white or black panel. In addition, 12 interchangeable panels will be launched to match the art you already have in your home: from an abstract design with geometric figures to a panel with paint splashes.

You control the new speaker from your smartphone via WiFi, for example from the Sonos app with access to over a hundred streaming services. You can also pair them with other Symfonisk and Sonos speakers. If you have multiple speakers at home, you can control each one separately.

Previously leaked information showed that the speakers will cost $199.99 in the US. The European price is 179 euros for the speaker.
