Honda-e: how does it go in winter and what is its real consumption when temperatures reach zero? To answer the question I picked up the car that my sweet half had in hand again. defines & quot; the ugly car & quot; and that I like it instead. If I could afford a fancy, compact and expensive subcompact, it would already do it. part of my garage for city commissions and the commute from home to work, from the province of Monza to Milan.

This little personal interlude serves to confirm, not that it was needed, that Honda-e & egrave; an extremely polarizing car in look, made for a very specific audience to which to give; many satisfactions, but not suitable for everyone.

After the winter test, we can take stock of Honda-e, starting from how it goes. The frame is; interesting because & eacute; has an almost sporty taste: the small Japanese electric & egrave; bright already; with the 136 HP engine. The unit is unlocked at 154 hp by choosing Honda-e Advance, an outfit that represents a whim because it & eacute; the couple & egrave; the same: higher than many competitors of the same power thanks to 315 Nm . To make a comparison, PSA's electric motors stop at 260 Nm, a figure similar to that of the 1.5 dCi diesel of the Renault group to be clear, very valid even with an average load.

Brilliant, however, does not mean that it is a missile. The delivery is sweet, linear and progressive , perfect to make it accessible to everyone and fun to drive, despite being an atypical rear-wheel drive because & eacute; you have to work hard to put it sideways: the battery crushes it to the ground in curves, the weight & egrave; perfectly balanced (50:50) and the electronic controls are punctual.

Direct and progressive steering and a guessed setup in terms of suspension (four independent ones made of forged aluminum) are the strengths but, being a “ fun car '', it would have been nice to deal with a more car. nervous and less civilized. Excellent turning radius, like a real town.

COCKPIT, BOOT AND TECHNOLOGY

With the test at all temperatures the final verdict does not change. Honda-e & egrave; always a car to buy from the gut if we fall in love and if we can afford it. A pleasant whim, with an unmistakable look and unique interiors of its kind. Everything is; in the right place and philosophy & egrave; that of the Mini: for those who can & ograve; and wants to stand out, with many technological games that will never tire you. It almost looks like a prototype where the Japanese have put all the technologies that they will then spread to the rest of the range.

The right one & egrave; the basic version: costs 36,650 & euro; because & eacute; the price list charges any color for the bodywork, it is not; present the color included in the price. With scrapping and incentives it already becomes; more interesting for those looking for a high-end town: 26,200 & euro; .

It is clear that these are important figures and that there are obvious flaws. In reality, however, it is not; efficiency is the real problem since consumption is average: not the best but far from more electric cars; energy-consuming. The limit is; represented by the small size of the battery pack.

Vera sins, on the other hand, & egrave; the management of the recharge because & eacute; the direct current curve decreases rapidly despite having the advantage of settling on about 20 kW constant in the final part. Good management in alternating current with pi & ugrave; constant 6 kW thanks to the 7.4 kW (32A, 230V) single-phase on-board charger: linear but there is a lack of the 11 kW three-phase which could make better use of the various 22 kW columns of the Italian network.

THE ALTERNATIVES

Honda-e & egrave; the city electric for those who do not want to homologate with the usual electric 500 or the equally inflated Mini Electric. These are the main opponents of the Japanese since the premium sector and the refined and particular look must be considered: it is impossible to compare it with cars like the old triad VAG (Up, Citigo and Mii) or the Dacia Spring, much more; spartan in everything.

Despite being a crossover, the Mazda MX-30 could also overlap the Honda-e, making it into a potential buyer's wish list.
