From the G7, no stop to the sale of endothermic models

Who expected that from the G7 could emerge some date to stop at sales of endothermic cars, probably will remain; disappointed. As expected, a compromise position won. Although there was a draft that committed countries to ensure that by 2030 or before the sales of petrol and diesel cars were severely limited, the final decision is; was very different.

THE DECISION OF THE G7 COUNTRIES

The G7 countries will do more to push forward the goal of electrification of the transport sector but without setting any specific date for the stop to the marketing of petrol and diesel models. It is therefore only a generic commitment to accelerate the transition towards mobility; more sustainable.

We recognize that us & ograve; will request; a drastic increase in the pace of the global decarbonisation process of the road transport sector in the 2020s and beyond. We are committed to accelerating the transition to promote the adoption of zero-emission vehicles.

This compromise agreement, in the end, shouldn't be too surprising given that some of the G7 countries are hosting important car manufacturers which could be heavily penalized by a sudden acceleration of electrification. Fear, in fact, is; that of having strong repercussions at the industrial level with job cuts.

The G7 countries have nevertheless reaffirmed their commitment to the fight against climate change. The promise is; to get to put on the plate 100 billion dollars a year to support the transition of developing countries. Returning to the automotive world, for the moment, the only G7 country to already have; established a date to stop the sale of endothermic cars & egrave; The UK. This deadline, as we know, is; for 2030 .

Even if since the G7 it is not; emerged a date for the end of the endothermic models, the fact that it was talked about & egrave; already an important signal for the future.
