At E3 2021, the publisher Square Enix and the Japanese development studio Team Ninja, which was already responsible for the Soulslike action games Nioh and Nioh 2, have the dark Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins announced for the coming year on the PC as well as PlayStation and Xbox.

Dark action role-playing game in the Final Fantasy universe

This time the Japanese publisher Koei Tecmo is responsible for the distribution. Square Enix speaks of a “bold new vision” for the Final Fantasy franchise. The very dark fantasy role-playing game should be based on the “death simulator” Dark Souls 3 (test) and the Nioh series as an action RPG.

Step into a world of dark fantasy and enjoy the exciting, action-packed battles.

Square Enix didn't reveal much about the story itself and spoke of a “bold project” by the two veterans Tetsuya Nomura, who were responsible for the Final Fantasy VII remake and Kazushige Nojima will be realized together with Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo for 2022.

Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, burn with determination to defeat the Chaos as they push open the gates to the Chaos Shrine. But doubts remain – are they really the warriors of light that prophecy foretold?
