At Zyxel, the range of mesh solutions is being expanded to include a new cost-effective product line with Wi-Fi 6, which is to appear as an entry-level series via corporate customers such as providers or network equipment providers, but also in traditional retail. Two routers for DSL or fiber optic connections are combined with a satellite.

Four new routers with WiFi 6

The new releases in the Wi-Fi 6 mesh solutions include, on the one hand, the DX3300 and DX3301 WLAN routers, which are intended for DSL connections using copper cables and come with an integrated VDSL2 modem . The two siblings EX3300 and EX3301, on the other hand, are designed for fiber optic connections.

All four mesh routers are united by the identical Wi-Fi 6 radio unit, which is a dual-band solution with two frequency bands that can be used in parallel. The data streams are distributed via 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies via four internally installed antennas (2 × 2 configuration). Zyxel has not yet commented on the possible transmission speeds. From the AX1800 extension included in the product name, however, it can be deduced that the maximum possible data throughput is a combined gross of 1,800 Mbit/s. Based on the technical implementations customary on the market, a maximum of around 1,200 Mbit/s should be allocated to the faster 5 GHz band from this value, while the transmission speeds that can be achieved at 2.4 GHz should be 567 Mbit/s in the best case.

A new satellite

Zyxel has that as an extension in the form of an access point or network extender Wi-Fi 6 model WX3100, also designed as a dual-band solution, is new to the portfolio. This also has two separately usable data channels that ensure data exchange via four internal antennas.

The manufacturer has not yet given a date for the start in retail in this country. The pricing for the end customer business also remains unclear at the moment. Zyxel typically grants other conditions to traders, companies and other bulk buyers.
