ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC: gaming monitor with curved MVA, UWQHD and 144 Hz

ViewSonic has a new gaming monitor in its range with the VX3418-2KPC. For the time being only available in the USA, the 34-inch screen delivers 3,440 × 1,440 pixels in 21: 9 format with up to 144 Hz on a curved MVA panel.

PC Monitors discovered the VX3418-2KPC. It is already touted on a product page for $ 470. A picture with the XG logo causes confusion, even though the display belongs to the VX series by name. The editorial team assumes an error in the picture.

Curved MVA panel with 6 bits + FRC

The LCD panel described by the manufacturer as “MVA” is curved in a radius of 1.5 meters (1500R), which should ensure more immersion in games. Players should also benefit from the 144 Hz and a Moving Picture Response Time (MPRT) of 1 ms, which speaks for a reduction in motion blur using backlight strobing. AMD FreeSync is also supported via Adaptive-Sync.

The color depth of effectively 8 bits (16.7 million colors) is achieved via FRC simulation, because the panel itself only works with 6 bits. The brightness is given as 300 cd/m² and the contrast ratio as 4,000: 1. The HDR10 format is supported, certification according to DisplayHDR standards is not available.

Both DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 are represented twice. There is also a headphone jack and speakers. There is no need for USB connections.

Price, specifications and availability

Information on the possible market launch in Germany is not yet available while the VX3418-2KPC costs around $ 470 in the US. Similar equipped monitors from other manufacturers cost around 400 to 500 euros in this country.

Better equipped but probably also more expensive are the new models of the Elite series with 240 Hz and 360 Hz, the according to ViewSonic should appear in the third quarter.
