Several studies have shown that serious illness and death in covid-19 are more common among immigrants.

The new statistics, which apply to people aged 60-64, shows, however, that vaccination coverage among foreign-born has increased from 59 percent to 67 percent in the last three weeks.

The lowest vaccination rate is seen among people born in Africa outside North Africa, but also among them vaccination coverage has increased from 49 percent to 61 percent .

In the group of Swedish-born, vaccination coverage has increased from 83 percent to 88 percent during the same period.

The new statistics also show that the vaccination rate increases in line with rising income and education. This applies to both Swedish-born and foreign-born, but the differences are greater among foreign-born. The largest proportion of vaccinated people is found among people with high incomes, regardless of country of birth. The lowest vaccination rate among foreign-born people with low income is 50 percent. Even among people born in Sweden, income is important for the tendency to get vaccinated. So far, 71 percent of Swedish-born people with low incomes have been vaccinated. People with post-secondary education have a vaccination coverage of 87 percent, for people with pre-high school education the figure is 77 percent.
