The Danish bill was voted through by a large majority in the Folketing last week.

The decision means that Denmark will conclude an agreement with a country in the third world – for example Rwanda – that send all their asylum seekers there. In this way, Denmark will completely phase out its asylum reception at home.

The law is praised by Jimmie Åkesson.

– Hopefully Stefan Löfven can learn something from the Danish Social Democrats when it comes to a responsible immigration policy, even if it is enough to hope for too much, Åkesson tells Aftonbladet.

The Moderates' migration policy spokesperson Maria Malmer Stenergard says that her party shares Denmark's “problem description and shortcomings in today's asylum system”. However, she claims that Sweden can not “do” as Denmark now does because Sweden “lacks Denmark's EU exemption”, writes Aftonbladet.
