Domestic. The Social Democrats have been in power in the municipality of Surahammar for over a century. But now there is a historic shift of power – the former alliance parties and the Sweden Democrats seize power.

Surahammar in Västmanland has been a sauce municipality for as long as any living person can remember.
But recently the party has lost many voters, the Sweden Democrats became in the 2018 municipal election the second largest party with 22 percent of the votes.
Recently, the Social Democrats in Surahammar abandoned their majority cooperation with the Center Party.
Then the Sweden Democrats, Moderates, Liberals, Christian Democrats and the Center Party submitted their electoral cooperation, reports SVT Nyheter Västmanland.
The five parties together have 17 of the 31 seats in the council.
Johanna Olofsson (M) is now proposed to be the new chairman of the municipal board and full-time municipal councilor.
– It feels fantastic, this is what we worked for, she says to SVT.
The outgoing municipal councilor Chris Marlowe (S) says that the collaboration with C eventually became unsustainable.
– They have secretly negotiated with the Sweden Democrats, he says to Expressen.
