Almost two years after the introduction of the Fossil Gen 5, the watch manufacturer is now giving the watch an LTE upgrade. Using eSIM, the smartwatch can be used independently from the smartphone. Like the Montblanc Summit 2+ (test), Fossil is also working with Vodafone's OneNumber program for this.

No further innovations

Even though the Fossil Gen 5 LTE is based on Google's Wear OS and can therefore also be used by iOS users, the new LTE function is only available to Android users. The Gen 5 LTE grows by one millimeter in diameter and case height compared to its namesake. There are no other innovations such as new fitness sensors.

The Fossil Gen 5 LTE also comes with the now three-year-old Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1 GB of working and 8 GB of flash memory therefore. The 1.28-inch AMOLED display offers 328 pixels in diameter. The bracelets are interchangeable and measure 22 millimeters in width.

The Fossil 5 Gen LTE is available from today in black and rose. Both color variants use a silicone bracelet. The price is around 370 euros. The surcharge for the conventional Fossil Gen 5 is therefore 70 euros based on the recommended price.
