Bleujour has given the customizable mini-PC in cube shape Kubb a technology upgrade to Intel's 11th generation notebook processors. The basis is still a circuit board of an Intel NUC, but in the future optionally with soldered Core i3/i5/i7 from the Tiger Lake family with two or four cores including SMT.

The Octo also receives a refresh on Intel Tiger-Lake

A Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1165G7 can sit in the 122 × 132 × 64 mm aluminum housing of the flatter Octo, which Bleujour is converting to a modernized NUC board at the same time as the Kubb. The GPU integrated in the processor acts as the graphics unit, either a UHD version as an entry-level version or in the two faster chips, Intel's Xe solution with more power.

For this purpose, Bleujour offers 8 GB of DDR4 RAM from the notebook in the basic configuration, which can be expanded up to 64 GB. In addition, there is a 256 GB M.2 SSD that supports the PCIe 3.0 transmission standard. Optionally, a drive with PCIe 4.0 and NVMe is offered, which can be ordered from the manufacturer for a surcharge.

With the platform change, the Octo PC system is also getting new features in terms of equipment. There are two USB-C ports Thunderbolt 4 and a WLAN module with Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN 802.11ax) from Intel (Wi-Fi 6 AX201). There are also a total of three typical USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, distributed on the front and rear, and, in addition to a LAN socket for 2.5 Gbit networks (Intel i225-LM), also two HDMI outputs. With a low weight of 560 g and a VESA mount included in the scope of delivery, the Octo can easily be hidden behind a monitor or television, provided that the appropriate preparation is carried out, unlike the Kubb.

This in turn has the known dimensions of 120 × 120 × 120 mm. The outer shell is also made of aluminum, but can be ordered in different colors and with an individual print depending on your taste. The weight is given as 1,100 g. The unique selling point of the PC cube is, thanks to its higher construction, an additional installation space for a 2.5-inch drive.

Individual equipment calls for higher prices Prices

Bleujour charges 535 euros for the Octo (Gen 11) model with Tiger Lake Core i3. The configuration variant with Core i5 costs 180 euros extra. 420 euros more must be calculated for the Core i7. RAM costs 46 euros (16 GB), 141 euros (32 GB) or 340 euros more than the entry-level version. There are also four options for mass storage. For example, the manufacturer charges 146 euros for a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD with 1 TB.

The basic version of the Kubb Gen 11 starts at 640 euros. According to the shop, higher surcharges are due for the faster processors than for the Octo. The rest of the price list does not reveal any surprises and is therefore comparable to that of the technical twin.
