Radeon Pro W6800 and W6600: AMD's next-gen for professionals is in the starting blocks

In a short “teaser”, AMD promises to present “something big soon” and means the next generation of professional graphics cards from the Radeon Pro series based on RDNA-2. The graphics processor Navi 21, which is known from consumer graphics cards, is also being launched for the first time in the professional segment.

W6800 and W6600 will be launched on August 8th. June expected

With a playing time of only 13 seconds, little can be seen from the teaser, but the color scheme and initiation clearly identify the graphics card as a Radeon Pro.

Later in the year, AMD would also like to introduce the professional accelerator Radeon Instinct MI100 (“Arcturus”) and CDNA2 as a new architecture for the professional segment.

They were mentioned for the first time new Radeon Pro in March on the Chiphell website, which claims to have been leaked of images of a still “naked” prototype.

As AMD announced via the official account @RadeonPRO, the presentation should take place in a few days, on June 8th. The Radeon Pro W6800 and the Radeon Pro W6600 are expected to be based on various expansion stages of Navi 21.

The first moving images show six mini-DisplayPort on the I/O shield of the graphics card. AMD will reveal further technical details on June 8th.

Product offensive for Computex 2021

At Computex 2021, AMD also announced RDNA 2 for cars and smartphones and Ryzen processors with 3D V-Cache Technology as well as the open-source DLSS alternative FidelityFX Super Resolution, which will be released on June 22nd.

Radeon Pro W6800 with 32 GB VRAM in Geekbench

The resourceful Twitter user @Leakbench was able to find a Radeon Pro W6800 with a total of 32 GB of video memory in the benchmark Geekbench for the first time, which achieved an OpenCL score of 137,230 points with a high read clock of 2,554 MHz.

In terms of performance in OpenCL, the professional graphics card is slightly above a GeForce RTX 3070 (test), which scores around 136,000 points comes.

A Radeon RX 6800 for professionals

With the compute units however, it is a readout error. The Radeon Pro W6800 should be able to fall back on 3,840 ALUs analogous to the Radeon RX 6800 (test). The memory interface is 256 bits and is supported by 128 MB Infinity Cache.
