This is why (according to Apple) the 11-inch iPad Pro does not have a mini LED display

The mini-LED display in the new iPad Pro is, if we can believe our first hand, one of the highlights. But only the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2021 features this new screen, which Apple calls the Liquid Retina XDR display. Why is this new screen technique not available on the 11-inch iPad Pro? In an interview, Apple hopes to provide clarity.

Why 11-inch iPad Pro doesn't have a mini LED

YouTuber Brian Tong spoke with Scott Broderick (iPad product marketing) and Vincent Gu (display engineering team) in an interview. The answer to the question comes from Broderick, Apple's marketing man. And that is not without reason. According to him, the user of the 11-inch iPad is looking for a portable iPad. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is 0.5 millimeters thicker and also slightly heavier due to the mini LED display.

What we know about the 11-inch user is that they love to carry a super powerful and portable iPad with 1-pound design. They like that form factor. While the user who loves the 12.9-inch screen wants the largest canvas to do the creative work. So it made sense to bring XDR technology to the iPad Pro's 12.9-inch display.

At the same time, there are many reports that Apple is having problems with the production of the mini-LED display. This is also reflected in the delivery times: the 12.9-inch iPad Pro currently has a delivery time from the end of June to the beginning of July, while the 11-inch version can be delivered at the beginning of June. We therefore think that this answer is not the whole story and we expect that eventually the 11-inch version will also get a mini-LED display.

In the rest of the interview, other topics will also be discussed. including the M1 chip, the Center Stage camera and the new Thunderbolt connection.

Starting today, the new iPad Pro is available for purchase at retailers and the first copies will be delivered to early buyers. If you want to know more about the iPad Pro 2021, read our explanation. Soon you will find the extensive review on iCulture.
