International hands-on round-up iPad Pro 2021

We've had to wait a while, but the new Apple TV is finally within reach. The first copies will be delivered this week and the orders for the separate Siri Remote will also be in the hands of users. In recent days, the international media have already been able to get started with the Apple TV 4K 2021 and share their hands-on experiences.

CNN Underscored hands-on Apple TV 4K 2021

CNN has also gone hands-on with the Apple TV 4K 2021. They note that the Apple TV is also noticeably faster, but it's no difference between day and night. With the chip and HDMI 2.1, the Apple TV is especially more future-proof, because content in high-frame rate HDR is now possible. The range of these is still limited. Among other things, RedBull TV is suitable, but you also need a supporting television for it. Some active sports scenes come into their own on the Apple TV.

All in all, CNN does not call the new Apple TV a must-buy, but according to them that applies to the Siri Remote. They call the new remote near-perfect, although the previous remote was not a bad choice, according to the reviewer. The new click wheel offers the best of both worlds: swiping if you want to swipe and buttons if you prefer to click.

ZDNet about the new Apple TV

The ZDNet reviewer gives the Apple TV 4K 2021 a score of 9. Excellent, says Jason Cipriani, who is particularly happy with the improved performance, the new Siri Remote and the fact that there is a wide range of streaming apps and services. As a downside, he mentions the fact that the Apple TV is quite pricey. The new Apple TV is the streaming device for anyone in the Apple ecosystem. It's an extension to the Apple products you already own and services such as Apple Arcade and Fitness +. However, there is not much reason to upgrade if you already have an Apple TV 4K. The new remote is a nice purchase.

TechRadar has tested the new Apple TV 2021

The Apple TV 4K (2021) is a slick streaming device, with which you can play 4K video in HDR and Dolby Vision. High frame rate HDR is also supported for fast action, such as in sports. The updated Siri remote is a joy to use and there are plenty of small but useful features, such as multi-user support and the ability to automatically adjust your TV's color balance. Yes, it is expensive. But it is more than just a box to watch movies and films and TV shows: it is also a smart home hub at the same time. The updated Siri Remote and the support of Thread are plus points. Less nice is that it does not work with Android.

Pocket-Lint's experience with Apple TV 2021 tested

Apple TV's 2021 update does what it should: bundle streaming services and Apple's own services in one place. But compared to the competition, it feels pricey. This also has to do with the fact that you can do much more with it than just play movies, the reviewer admits. Plus points are 4K HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for high-quality images and sound. The addition of HDMI 2.1 is also a nice innovation. But the processor could offer a bit more performance for powerful games and the reviewer would like to see Spatial Audio.
