New in iOS 14.7: air quality in the Weather app in the Netherlands

Apple has been showing air quality on iPhone and Apple Watch in a number of countries worldwide for a few years now, including Germany, England and the US. Apple uses data from BreezoMeter, a service that specializes in such measurements. In the Netherlands, this function was missing in the Weather app, despite the fact that BreezoMeter does have measurements from the Netherlands. This will change in iOS 14.7.

iOS 14.7 brings air quality measurements to the Netherlands

In iOS 14.7 you can find the measurement of the air quality in the Netherlands in both the Weather app and the Maps app. In the Weather app, you can see the measurement by scrolling down, just below the multi-day forecast. The scale used differs per location. A colored bar also shows the ratio of the current air quality to the average.

In the Maps app you can also see the air quality (LKI) at the bottom right, where the color also indicates how good (or how bad) the air quality is. By holding this down, you also see a more extensive display of both the temperature and the air quality. The air quality representation applies to the whole of the Netherlands. In Belgium & euml; it is unfortunately not visible yet.

Also visible on Apple Watch
It is not entirely clear why Apple needs an iOS update for this function. Usually these things are triggered from the servers. In addition to the iPhone, you can also see the air quality with watchOS 7.6 on the Apple Watch. You can see it both in the Weather app and with the separate complication for the air quality index.

It is not known when iOS 14.7 and watchOS 7.6 will be released, but the final version is likely to be released sometime in June or July. Read more in our tip on viewing air quality on iPhone and Apple Watch.
