HP follows the latest trend in gaming notebooks and presents two new model series in 16-inch format. Both the HP Omen 16 and the Victus by HP 16 give the player the choice between CPUs of the type AMD Ryzen 5000 or the 11th generation Intel Core.
The first omen 16
The new Omen 16 isn't the manufacturer's first 16-inch gaming notebook, that was the HP Pavilion Gaming a year ago, but it's the first from the dedicated gaming brand Omen. HP has given the Omen series better hardware for strategic reasons alone, but with a one-year gap to the Pavilion model, the technical progress is also due to evolution.
The Omen 16 is available with either an Intel Tiger Lake-H45 (11th generation Core) or an AMD Ryzen 5000H (test) in a wide variety of configuration levels and optionally with a GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU (test), GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU (test) or GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU with a maximum of 115 watt TGP. This should affect the largest of the three GeForce, but HP has not yet given any details. It has also not yet been clarified whether up to 15 watts are already included via Dynamic Boost 2.0. The display will be available both with Full HD with 144 Hertz and with WQHD with 165 Hertz.

Both the AMD and Intel variants should be available from June 2021. The Intel variants start at $ 1,149 before tax, the AMD models at $ 1,049 before tax.
The first Victus by HP 16
The second 16-inch gaming notebook is a first in two respects: It is the first 16-inch model in the “Victus by HP” series and the first in the series. HP positions the new Victus-by-HP series in the portfolio below the Omen series. There were already cheaper gaming notebooks from HP, but they were still running as the Pavilion gaming series under the HP umbrella brand. With Victus by HP, HP now hangs the cheaper gaming notebooks under the Omen brand, which can also be recognized by the Victus logo derived from the Omen logo. The question of whether Victus by HP will replace Pavilion Gaming in the near future remained unanswered until the publication by HP.

Even with the Victus by HP 16, gamers can choose between CPUs from AMD and Intel, but HP has not yet given any details. As with the GPU, the Victus-by-HP series should also tend to use slightly less powerful expansion stages than the Omen series with the CPUs. The maximum GPU that can be configured in the Victus by HP 16 is the GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU with 80 watt TGP, alternatively a Radeon RX 5500M or just a GeForce MX350 is available – a GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) laptop GPU is in the press releases no speech, but this option should not be ruled out. The display is also fast up to 165 Hertz with a resolution according to WQHD.
The new Victus by HP 16 should also be available in all versions from June. Prices start at 849 (Intel) and 799 US dollars before taxes (AMD).
The new HP Omen 17 with 165-watt GPU
HP has not reinvented but reissued the HP Omen 17 with a 17.3-inch display. In this case, HP has given the chassis, which has been slightly shrunk compared to its predecessor, GPUs up to the GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU with the maximum permitted 150 watts TGP plus up to 15 watts via Dynamic Boost and Intel's Core i9 CPUs based on Tiger Lake H45 . However, there is no AMD Ryzen 5000H in this series.
