Homework increases sharply

TT More and more people work at home. Archive image.Image: Henrik Montgomery/TT The proportion of domestic workers is increasing sharply, but far from all are affected, figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB) show. During the fourth quarter of last year, three out of ten (29 per cent) worked from home. During the first quarter of this year, that figure had risen to just over four out of ten (42 per cent). It is primarily women who work at home in a higher proportion. Stockholm County has the largest proportion of homeworkers, Dalarna and Norrbotten the smallest. Among various industries, homework in information and communication is most common. The lowest proportion is in hotels and restaurants and in healthcare. Workers in the manufacturing industry and in the transport industry also rarely work at home for natural reasons. In occupations with requirements for in-depth university qualifications, on the other hand, as many as two-thirds work at home
