With the Toughbook S1, Panasonic has introduced an Android tablet that is not supposed to score points with powerful hardware, as is usually the case, but rather with a focus on robustness. This includes not only the usual IP certification, but also protection according to US military standards. But the package also has its price.

The mobile device is protected against dust and water in accordance with IP65 and the US military standard MIL-STD-810H, the optionally available stylus pen in accordance with IP67. In addition, the tablet should withstand a fall from a height of 150 cm undamaged. The rain and glove mode should guarantee easy handling even in adverse weather conditions and when using safety gloves.
Adaptable via modules
In addition, the tablet can be adapted to the respective conditions and areas via the gadget port: For example, the tablet can be equipped with a barcode reader or an additional USB port. The Toughbook S1 also has a hot-swappable battery with a capacity of 5,580 mAh, which can be changed during operation. Panasonic specifies the battery life with up to 14 hours. A 13 megapixel camera with a flash on the back and a 5 megapixel front camera should also ensure good pictures during documentations or video conferences.
