One of the debaters is Marianne Blomqvist in Trollhättan who has bred purebred dogs for over 65 years,
She believes that popular mixed breeds such as labradoodle and cockerpoo are a harmful trend that destroys the traditional breeds.
– We have 360 breeds. They have a task, they are bred, and we can not mix them with any other breed because then we destroy it, she says to SVT.
Cajsa Stålhammar, who lives outside Lund and raises labradoodles, is of the opposite opinion. Among other things, she believes that the risk of inbreeding is great with purebred dogs.
– In a mixed breed, it is the great genetic variation that is its strength and that makes breeding sustainable. In reindeer breeds, they have got rid of that variation through quite strong inbreeding, she tells SVT.
