Domestic. Police decided on Tuesday afternoon to reject the application for a public meeting submitted by the Danish politician Rasmus Paludan.

Rasmus Paludan planned to hold an “international drawing-Muhammad competition” in the Malmö ghetto Rosengård on Thursday.
According to the law, the police may only refuse permission for a public gathering only if it is necessary with regard to the order or security of the gathering, with regard to traffic or to counter an epidemic.
– It is of the utmost importance for us to safeguard the constitutionally protected freedom of assembly and demonstration. However, it is possible in exceptional cases to restrict the right to hold meetings in a public place when there is a clear risk that order or security cannot be maintained, says Commander Petra Stenkula on the police's website.
Rasmus Paludan has according to the police has been notified of the decision and is also informed that the decision can be appealed to the Administrative Court. A dialogue on whether Rasmus Paludan wants to apply for a general meeting in another place or in some other form has begun. So far, however, no further applications have been received, the police write.
