Official: iMac 2021 will be released on May 21, along with other products

Update May 18, 2021 : Apple has now officially announced through a press release that the iMac 2021, iPad Pro 2021 and Apple TV 4K 2021 release date is this Friday, May 21. From then on, the first buyers will receive their pre-orders and the models can be viewed in Apple Stores worldwide. In the Netherlands and Belgium; the Apple Stores are only open by appointment. You can book a shopping session if you want to view the new products for yourself.

Presumably other retailers will also have the new products on sale from May 21, although stock will likely be limited.

Update April 29, 2021 : Apple issued a press release this afternoon highlighting pre-orders for the new products. Although in that press release nothing is said about an exact release date, it appears that the source code of the page does reveal a few things. The source code of the UK version states the following:

The all-new iMac, iPad Pro, Apple TV 4K, purple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, and AirTag arrive in stores and on doorsteps around the world May 21.

This extra information can therefore not be found in the press release itself. In addition, part of this sentence is also incorrect: the AirTag and purple iPhone 12 are already on the shelves tomorrow. Nevertheless, the press release originally stated the date of May 21, so there is a good chance that this date is indeed correct.

On the German page of the press release, there is also a mention in the source code about the date of May 21. Unlike the UK version, there is (rightly) no mention of the AirTag and purple iPhone 12 on May 21st.

The pre-order for Apple's latest products will start tomorrow: the iMac 2021, the iPad Pro 2021 & the Apple TV 4K 2021. The upcoming products are expected to be available at 14:00, but when will they be delivered? Until now, that was the question, because Apple has not communicated a date. During the April 2021 event, Apple only revealed the mid-May date, but now Jon Prosser, among others, is reporting that May 21 will be the date.

& lsquo; iMac 2021 and more release date: May 21 & rsquo;

Prosser wrote in a tweet that the iPad Pro 2021 and Apple TV 4K 2021 will all be available on May 21, 2021. It is therefore expected that the first copies ordered will also be delivered to users. He does not comment on the new iMac 2021, but there are clear indications that it will also be available on 21 May.

Several retailers in the United Kingdom write that the iMac 2021 will be available from May 21. So that would mean that the release date of both the iMac 2021, iPad Pro 2021 and Apple TV 4K 2021 are all on the same day. Apple often releases new devices on the same day. This was also the case with the iPhone and the Apple Watch in recent years, with the exception of the autumn of 2020.

It is not clear why Apple has not yet communicated a date, but it may be because Apple is not yet sure of the demand and total supply. There is still a chip shortage and the mini LED display of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro could also cause a delay. The iMac 2021 has a completely new design with a 24-inch screen. The model has an M1 chip, just like the new iPad Pro 2021. The Apple TV 4K 2021 has a faster A12 chip with a new Siri Remote. The Siri Remote can also be ordered separately and will probably also appear on May 21.
