Microsoft Teams for consumers
Almost a year ago, Microsoft promised to make a special consumer version of Teams and launched a preview last June. The test went well and the company is now going to do a wider rollout. You don't need a separate app for it. With the existing apps from Microsoft Teams, you can now make free video calling with up to 300 people. A conversation may last a maximum of 24 hours. According to Microsoft, restrictions will come later, once the pandemic is over. You can then call for a maximum of 60 minutes with a maximum of 100 people at the same time. However, for 1-on-1 conversations you can continue to chat for 24 hours in the future. For example, you could start a Microsoft Team session to stay in touch with someone who is in quarantine all day long, so that this person does not feel too lonely.
Teams for personal use has the same look as the business version. In fact, it's the same app. You can see shared content on a dashboard and import important information into a digital vault. If you already have a business account for Microsoft Teams, you can tap your profile and add an extra account for personal use via the More icon. You can also assign tasks in shared to-do lists, create polls, schedule things, and share meeting invitations in a group chat.
By switching accounts you can switch between your corporate Microsoft Teams and your personal contacts. You can also use it on Windows, on the web and on Android smartphones. A direct download link for Mac can be found here.
