At the beginning of May, the news came that Sweden would “donate” one million doses of Astra Zeneca's scandal vaccine to the international collaboration Covax.

Covax is an international initiative to deliver corona vaccine to developing countries free of charge.

Recently, Covax delivered 1.7 million Astra Zeneca doses to Congo-Kinshasa. However, due to fears of side effects, the willingness to take the vaccine was low, and 1.3 million doses were therefore sent immediately to other countries.

– The first doses were delivered in March when there was much talk about the risk of side effects and many countries had just stopped or paused the use of Astra's vaccine, says Joachim Beijmo, Development Aid Counselor at the Swedish Embassy in Congo-Kinshasa, to TT.
