Privacy leak at Eufy camera & rsquo; s

The problem was reported on Reddit and confirmed by multiple users. One user reports that he looked into the app from New Zealand and found that he was shown camera images that were not his own. It was said to be another user in Australia, whose contact details were also displayed. The affected user has three small children and is afraid that others may also watch him.

Strangers could watch and make recordings

Another user saw that the hub (the so-called home base) showed a red light, but nothing happened after that. He then looked in the app and saw images of someone else's doorbell. Users also report that they can access all the info in someone else's account, including the live feed. It was possible to operate the camera, by turning and tilting. Furthermore, this person could record videos with the record button and then save them on their own phone. This camera was located in a completely different place on the globe, in the Los Angeles time zone. People can access the live feed, history, events, etc.

Most reports come from Australia & euml; and New Zealand, where people have access to cameras in the United States. However, this could also have to do with time zones, because in the US many people are still in bed.

People think the idea that they can watch others is scary enough, but also ask themselves wonder whether their own camera is still safe. Logging out and then logging back in seems to be the solution. In the meantime, it's best to turn off your Eufy camera.

Anker, manufacturer of Eufy cameras, has not yet commented on the privacy leak. If you use Eufy cameras in combination with HomeKit Secure Video, your video should be safe, but this is not entirely certain.
