Abroad. The Gateway space station will be in orbit around the moon and astronauts will be able to stay there for two months. The initiative is a first step towards preparing future trips from the moon to March.

It's NASA's Artemis program that will put humans on the moon in 2024, it is thought, and later more astronauts will be sent to the space station named Gateway & ndash; NASA's permanent lunar base.
Gateway will then be developed into a portal for other space expeditions, also before travel on to March.
– This will be a good test environment for the technology required to get further, to March. In the longer term, we can imagine Gateway as a way to practice in a transport environment where you can learn to live and work for long periods around the moon, where you have looked relatively closer to home, before making the three-year trip to March, says Lara Kearney, deputy program director for the Gateway project, in a Youtube interview with Motherboard.
The first parts of the new space station will be sent to the moon between 2024 and 2025.
