If we talk about electric two wheels, the first thought probably immediately goes to scooters , which for several years now they are more and more; widespread in the city & agrave; mainly because of the sharing services. In fact, lately scooters have seen an expansion of the range of models and displacements available, together with a progressive democratization of list prices and an increase in autonomy (if you are thinking about it, here you will find the complete guide of the models available in Italy).
However, so far we have not & egrave; could have said the same about the electric motorcycle segment. 2021 for & ograve; it could be the right year for the turning point : freed from the initial limit represented by the high cost of batteries, the proposals of this market have become decidedly interesting, and so on; here is an overview of what's on in circulation or coming soon.
Not all of them will be available on our market , but since this is a segment in its infancy & egrave; still a good practice to look around and get an idea of it that awaits us. And you, have you ever thought about an electric motorcycle?
THE MARKET: THE ELECTRIC HAS A PI? ALSO IN 2020
To tell the truth, you can & ograve; to say that electric is one of the few segments that did not yield during the pandemic : if we consider the sales figures for motorcycles and scooters for all 12 months of 2020, the two-wheeler market in Italy closed in negative; 218,626 vehicles were registered, with a decrease of 5.76% compared to 2019. But the electric two-wheeler sector marked a positive trend.
Despite the health emergency and the difficulties; connected in fact, the year closed with a very encouraging increase : e-bikes recorded + 20% compared to 2019, while motorcycles (including motorcycles, mopeds and electric scooters) exceeded 10,000 registered vehicles, marking a + 84.5%.
The greatest growth significant relates to the scooter segment (+ 268%, 6,088 units registered), followed by that of motorcycles with + 125.7% (377 vehicles) and mopeds with + 10.5% (710 vehicles).

The displacement is; of 50 hp and 100 Nm of torque , the speed; maximum self-limited touches 100 km/h in 6 seconds and has a declared range of 160 km/h for one recharge. Among the most important features; also evident are the extra large wheels, probably around 12 & quot ;, which make it suitable for even the most terrain; difficult, and can & ograve; also be completely immersed in water.
There are three different riding modes, so the parameters released by Volcon may vary depending on the modes. driving choices chosen by the pilot. According to the Texas startup, the battery is; replaceable and full recharging takes place in a couple of hours with the domestic socket. & Egrave; pre-order on the website for $ 5,995 and is expected to launch in June or July 2021; for the moment the debut is; announced for the North American market, while nothing is known about a possible arrival in Europe. Here is the link for the configuration.
ZERO SR/S
& Egrave; a sports fairing instead the Zero SR/S by Zero Motorcycles, which improves the efficiency of the naked from which it derives, the Zero SR/F. The American manufacturer has raised the handlebars and lowered the footrests in order to guarantee the rider a better position; comfortable in the saddle, and the aerodynamic curve has made it possible to improve the efficiency of the electric motorcycle by 13%.
Speaking of technical data and performance, the new Zero SR/S has a 110 HP powertrain and 190 Nm of maximum torque ; can & ograve; arrive at a speed; maximum speed of 200 km/h. The engine & egrave; powered by a 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, which promises 259 km of autonomy in the city, up to 132 km on the highway and up to 175 km on a mixed route.
There is also a Power Tank accessory , that is; a small additional battery with 3.6 kWh of capacity, which allows to bring the autonomy respectively to 323 km in the city, 166 km on the highway and 219 km in the mixed. Pu & ograve; install up to 3 level 2 charging modules, and in this case the full charge is completed in about an hour. Available in Italy at a list price of 22,300 euros . The company that proposes it, Arc , & egrave; a British startup born from an internal department of Jaguar Land Rover dedicated to innovation, and which however, after presenting the Vector a couple of years ago, is not; managed to continue production due to difficulties economic.
But a light seems to have emerged at the end of the tunnel: the founder of Arc bought all the relevant parts of the company from the bankruptcy sale and brought the project back to life . The Vector has a range of over 400 km, recharges in half an hour, & egrave; able to connect with the pilot and reach 200 km/h . The engine with 127 HP and 396 Nm of maximum torque allows it to reach 100 per hour in 3.1 seconds.
Thanks to the monocoque frame in carbon fiber, the weight is; relatively low: we are talking about 220 kg. But it does not end there: the helmet also works as an ignition key and inside there is; a retractable head-up display ; it seems that the jacket is also technological, capable of transmitting sounds, noises and vibrations if a vehicle enters the blind spot. So much technology for & ograve; you pay, since the price is around 110,000 dollars. The first models should arrive by the end of the year, it is still not known whether even on the European market. Here the link to the official site.

Strong points of the new proposal are the sharp design, Ohlins front and rear suspension, Brembo monobloc brakes, a racing dashboard with stopwatch and GPS-based data logging and different options for battery size and consequently autonomy: 20 minutes of charging on the top-of-the-range model they are enough to travel 160 km, while the autonomy with & quot; full & quot; & egrave; of 321 km.
The 120 HP engine allows you to reach the speed; maximum speed of 240 km/h , while the weight is around 220 kg. The sale price is; of nearly $ 20,000, but delivery times are not yet known, n & eacute; any availability on the European market. Here the link to the official website.

Autonomy & # 39; egrave; 400 km in urban use, 230 km in combined use and 180 km in sustained use ; all thanks to the 21.5 kWh battery. There are four modes driving (Urban, Eco, Rain, Sport), four modes regenerative braking and three charging options supplied as standard (Slow Charge Mode 2 or 3 and Fast Charge DC Mode 4). The speed maximum guaranteed by the 109 HP engine & egrave; of 200 km/h , and weighs enough: 270 kg. The sale price is; of about 25,000 euros , and & egrave; available on the Italian market.
