As the Apple YouTuber Luke Miani reports, Apple will simply launch both the third generation of AirPods and the recently traded Apple Music HiFi, a HiFi offshoot of its own music service, on May 18th announce via a press release and an update of the website apart from an event.

While Miani has not been able to draw attention to itself with correct rumors about upcoming releases from Apple, AppleTrack had correctly disclosed the announcement date of the AirPods Max (test) at least one day before the release date. The current rumors are therefore to be viewed with a little skepticism as to their accuracy. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that new AirPods won't go into mass production until the third quarter of this year.

New design without ANC

There has been speculation about the new third-generation AirPods for months. In March and April, pictures of a new design leaked that would bring the AirPods with a shorter stylus closer to the AirPods Pro in terms of appearance, but still forego silicone attachments. It would be the first major update of the AirPods after a small refresh in 2019, which included wireless charging for the charging case, support for the voice command “Hey Siri” and improved battery life. In terms of functions, active noise cancellation (ANC), for example, should continue to be reserved for the Pro model. Apple only presented the AirPods Pro (test) in 2019 via a press release and not as part of a keynote.

Apple Music HiFi for 10 US dollars

Together with the new AirPods Apple is also to announce Music HiFi, which is expected to enable lossless streaming. However, recent rumors based on code from iOS 14.6 had assumed that Music HiFi would only be compatible with selected hardware and could not be used across the board on all end devices that were technically capable of doing so. In terms of price, Music HiFi should not be more expensive than normal Apple Music at $ 9.99. However, details of the implementation are not yet known.

In February Spotify announced that it would start a lossless streaming with Spotify HiFi this year. In March, however, Deezer expanded the lossless streaming Deezer HiFi to include family subscriptions.
