The 16-bit classic Zombies Ate My Neighbors and its successor Ghoul Patrol will return to current platforms in June. The top-down shooter released in 1993 for the Super NES and Sega Mega Drive will be playable on the PC for the first time.
The title alone reveals that the two games don't take each other seriously. The following is about 55 levels, about defending the neighborhood of a tranquil suburban settlement against zombies, mummies and other B-movie monsters with the teenagers Zeke and Julie and saving at least one of the residents from (in) death per level. An arsenal is available for this, which includes Uzi water pistols, exploding soda cans, bazookas, grass trimmers and other finds. The assertiveness of the two teenagers can also be increased with power-ups.
Innovations of the new edition
< p class = "p text-width">You can play alone or cooperatively. In the newly released version there is also the option of free storage and a “museum” where concept drawings, marketing ideas and a developer interview can be found.
The new release will be released on June 29th on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as the PC. There the game is offered on Steam and GOG for around 12.50 euros.
System “requirements”
The pictures of the game graphics already reveal that you don't need more than an entry-level office PC to play. This assessment is confirmed by the system requirements: problem-free gaming is possible even with computers that were available for little money years ago. Every PC in recent years has even met the recommended requirements – a 16-bit game is not demanding.
