With the launch of Intel's new 10-nm notebook CPUs called the Tiger Lake-H45, Gigabyte is bringing refreshed gaming machines from the Aorus family. These include the 15-inch Aorus 15P and the two 17-inch representatives, the Aorus 17G and 17X. The top model Aorus 17X alone comes up with a Core i9-11980HK.
Intel notebooks with Nvidia amps in the upper performance range
As soon as Intel launches new processors, a whole flood of new notebooks often follows, and so this time too, with the launch of Tiger Lake H45. Gigabyte starts with the Aorus 15P, which as the smallest ampere notebook measures 357 × 244 × 27 mm (W × D × H) and weighs only 2.2 kg.

In the revised new edition, the 15-inch notebook can be ordered with a maximum of an Intel Core i7-11800H with 8 cores at 4.6 GHz maximum clock in combination with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB VRAM. As a performance offshoot, the notebook GPU should be allowed to use a maximum of 130 watts (TGP). Nvidia allows a power consumption of up to 165 watts for the RTX 3080, depending on the device class and existing cooling. The entry point is a GeForce RTX 3070 with 8 GB of graphics memory, which, however, can also consume a maximum of 130 watts over the long term. Up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 can be added to the processor in the Aorus 15P.

The Aorus 17G is on par with the 15-inch Aorus in terms of processor, RAM and graphics card, but the RTX 3070 offered in the smallest equipment package can only consume a maximum of 105 watts of electrical power. The case with dimensions of 405 × 276 × 26 (W × D × H) can be flatter than the 15-inch Aorus. Gigabyte puts the weight at at least 2.7 kg.
Aorus 17X as top model with Core i9 and RTX 3080
With the third new addition to the Aorus notebook range with the Tiger Lake H45, Gigabyte exhausts the upper end of the range with current notebook components. In addition to an Intel Core i9-11980HK, which can achieve a boost clock of 5 GHz and can be manually overclocked even further, the Aorus 17X contains a GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB, which is allowed to work with 165 watts at its peak. As the flagship of the notebook line, the chassis measures 396 × 293 × 38 mm (W × D × H) and weighs around 3.8 kg.

In addition to the selectable processors, there are other differences with regard to the displays. Only the compact 15-inch gaming notebook has a fast 360 Hz panel. The Aorus 15P is also optionally available with a slower 240 Hz panel, which also offers Full HD resolution and can reproduce 72% of the NTSC color spectrum. Aorus 17G and Aorus 17X as spearheads, on the other hand, are only offered with a 300 Hz display (IPS level), which can display a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels and offers a color space coverage of 72% NTSC.
Thunderbolt 4 new in all models
The connection side is available with HDMI 2.1, 2.5 Gbit LAN, Wi -Fi 6 and at least three USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbit/s), with all three mostly well-known. As an exception, Thunderbolt 4 is new on board via a USB Type-C port. The Aorus 15P and Aorus 17G also have a mini-DisplayPort, whereas the Aorus 17X has a second USB-C.
So far, Gigabyte has no official prices called for the refresh model. At the current time, there is also no specific date from which the notebooks will start selling.
