Chipolo ONE Spot can now be pre-ordered: what are the differences with AirTag?

Chipolo ONE Spot available for order now

Chipolo already made Bluetooth trackers for your key ring, but the ONE Spot is the first to use the Find My network. This was announced a few weeks ago when Apple opened the Find My network to third parties. VanMoof, Belkin and Chipolo were on the list, competitor Tile was not.
If you are looking for an AirTag alternative and still want to use the Find my network, you can now order the Chipolo ONE Spot. It will be delivered in June and costs & euro; 30 each. Including shipping costs, however, you will lose & euro; 35, the same price that you pay for the AirTag. For a separate tracker it does not make much sense to opt for the plastic Chipolo.

Just like an AirTag, you add the Chipolo ONE Spot to the Objects tab of the Find My app. You can then see the location of the tracker on the map via your iPhone, iPad and Mac. The biggest difference with the AirTag is that the Chipolo ONE Spot has a ring, so you can immediately hang it on your key ring. It has an IPX5 rating, so it is slightly less water resistant. Watering through the rain is doable, but you cannot submerge in water.

The Chipolo ONE Spot only works with iOS devices and costs & euro; 30 plus & euro; 5 shipping costs.

Chipolo has also made the speaker extra loud. It gives an alarm of 120 dB when you play a sound. The exchangeable battery lasts for a year, comparable to the AirTag. The specs are largely the same as the already existing Chipolo ONE, which is available in several colors but only works via the own Chipolo app.

The main differences are shown below:

Advantages : The Chipolo ONE Spot has the following strengths: a lower weight, a louder speaker, the presence of an eyelet and the black color (which some people may be more attractive). It will also be practical for some people that this tracker is made entirely of plastic, so that scratches may be less noticeable.

Cons : The Chipolo ONE is larger than the AirTag, but is a bit lighter. The main drawbacks are the fact that there is no NFC and UWB in it, which means that Accurate Search will not work. It is also less water resistant.
