Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the test: the best camera? The readers decide in the blind test

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra has a huge camera module on the back that creates space for a large sensor. Readers can vote for themselves whether the recordings are really better than those of the competition. Apart from that, the smartphone offers longer battery life and very fast charging.

In the Mi 11 Ultra, Xiaomi installs the GN2 image sensor developed by Samsung, which distributes its 50 megapixels over a whopping 1/1.12 inches and thus offers the largest example of current flagship smartphones. You have to look back a long way to find similar dimensions with about 1/1.2 inches in the Nokia 808 PureView from 2012.

In the hump even fits a small display

The sensor is so large that it creates an unparalleled camera hump. The “box” on the back, which stretches over almost the entire width, accounts for several millimeters of depth. That would not have been absolutely necessary, or at least not to this extent, but Xiaomi also integrated a rear mini display into the camera module, for example to enable selfies via the main camera. The screen also serves as a small status indicator with an always-on function, although it seems questionable to always place the smartphone on the display for use. The compact AMOLED display measures 1.1 inches with 126 × 294 pixels and can also be used for personalized images and texts.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the test

The huge camera looks impressive, but it also has disadvantages, including the sheer dimensions, the top-heaviness and the high weight of 234 G. The fact that you carry this smartphone with you in your pocket cannot simply be disguised. Advantage of the new housing: Xiaomi is offering IP68 certification for the first time.

The forum will choose the winner

But is it worth it to accept these restrictions in order to potentially get significantly better smartphone photos? ComputerBase was in Berlin to take photos in automatic mode with the Mi 11 Ultra and two other smartphones. Differences between the individual devices are definitely noticeable. But which photo does the potential buyers actually like best? After the active participation in the last blind test with several smartphone cameras, readers registered in the forum can now decide for themselves which recording they like best and whether the Mi 11 Ultra actually emerges as the winner in the end.

Vote by May 15th, 12:00 pm

Any member of ComputerBase registered in the forum can take part in the surveys. Only one favorite can be selected per survey. If you just want to see the results without influencing the survey, you have the option “I just want to see the result” for each motif. The surveys each run for five days (five times 24 hours) from the publication of this article. Accordingly, the polls close on May 15 at 12:00 noon. This is followed by the evaluation of the results as well as the announcement of the winner and the disclosure of the other participating devices.
