The end of the CHAdeMO fast charging standard seems to be very close in France. This standard is has been for some time considered the most important in Europe as & egrave; used by Japanese electric cars which were among the first to be marketed in the Old Continent. Even today, the Nissan Leaf has this technical solution despite the evolution of the European battery car market and the CCS standard that today is; the one more & ugrave; important.

TOWARDS GOODBYE

In the end, what is happening in France should not surprise too much. Although there are still several models on the road that use the CHAdeMO standard, it makes no sense to invest resources for a technical solution that will be; less and less exploited in the future. Following a 2017 law, in France it was established that until 2024 fast charging points would have to have both the CCS and CHAdeMO standards. The French government has for & ograve; decided to change his plans.

In fact, the obligation to install CHAdeMO points also falls. From now on, only CCS and Type 2 sockets for alternating current will be mandatory for the new fast charging infrastructures. This does not mean that the Japanese standard cannot be more & ugrave; implemented but only that it will not be; more obligatory. This novelty it could create some problems for cars on the road equipped with this technical solution. Apart from the Nissan Leaf (around 20,000 were sold in France anyway), these are certainly not recent vehicles and designed for purely urban use (Peugeot iON, Citroen C-Zero and Mitsubishi i-Miev).

Moreover, already & agrave; we know that Nissan has decided to use the CCS standard for its future electric vehicles which it will sell; in Europe. No problem, therefore, in the long run. The new legislation also introduces further interesting innovations. The French government further highlights the importance of interoperability; of the recharging networks present to make more & ugrave; simple energy supplies.

Furthermore, the legislation introduces obligations in terms of quality; of the service . In addition to meeting specific requirements, the companies & agrave; they will have to periodically report on the state of operation of their network. The maintenance will have to; be performed only by certified professionals. Finally, the columns will have to be overhauled once a year.
