A total of ten women are noticed when holding their first annual gala. The names also include Klymaxx, Deniece Williams, Jeri Keever “Bunny” Hull, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Veryl Howard. The Women Songwriters Hall of Fame wants to draw attention to women who they believe have been neglected by the classic Songwriters Hall of Fame. Since the organization was founded, only 31 women out of 439 names have been elected. In June 2022, Mariah Carey will also be elected – at the same time as thirteen men. – We want the Songwriters Hall of Fame to understand that women have been left out of the conversation for far too long.
