“This is the new design of the upcoming MacBook Air 2021”

Just before the weekend, a rumor appeared that Apple is working on MacBooks in multiple colors. Information was sparse at the time, but it seemed it was a new model of the MacBook Air. In a new video rumor fan Jon Prosser again shares more information about the model. It indeed seems to be a new MacBook Air, but with a modified design and thus in the new colors.

& lsquo; Design MacBook Air 2021: flat sides, more colors

In his new video, Prosser explains that he has acquired images of the latest MacBooks from multiple sources. He also explains that it is unclear from those images which model it is exactly. But based on the information he received, he created the new renders together with a concept maker.

These renders show that the model has few ports. Based on the number of ports, it assumes that it is indeed a MacBook Air. What is striking about this is that the model has flat sides, which, unlike the recent MacBook Air models, are not sloping and thin. As with the MacBook Pro, the edge is straight and the same thickness throughout. However, there are still many uncertainties, Prosser also admits. For example, they do not know what the screen will look like and whether, for example, it will have a larger display.

He does say that both the bezels and the keyboard will go white, just like with the new upcoming 24-inch iMac. Apple has actually been using black bezels with black keyboards for years. The last time Apple opted for a white keyboard in a laptop was with the standard plastic MacBook. Other design elements also seem to correspond with the new iMac, such as the Touch ID button in the keyboard. According to Prosser, the overall housing of the MacBooks also matches the base of the new iMac in terms of color. Those colors are slightly lighter than the back of the iMac.

A total of seven different colors have been made for the new MacBook Air 2021, with the same colors as the iMac. The model also gets two USB-C ports on each side. He is not sure whether there will also be a MagSafe connection, as is rumored in the Pro models.

Whether Apple will indeed release this new model as a MacBook Air or simply as a & lsquo; MacBook & rsquo ;, is not yet clear. For example, there were rumors a year ago that the 12-inch MacBook would get a successor, with the introduction of the M1 chip. Presumably, the new MacBook as shown in the images will be released at the earliest at the end of this year. Bloomberg previously claimed that Apple is working on a thinner high-end MacBook Air with MagSafe.
