Segoe UI variable takes over step by step

With the new developer preview for Windows Insider from the Dev Channel, Microsoft is introducing the newly designed Segoe UI Variable font, a further development of the regular Segoe UI, which has an optical axis so that the font can be seamlessly scaled from small to large display sizes . Segoe UI was originally designed only for the font size 9pt and the print area.

Through appropriate optimizations, Segoe UI Variable is said to offer even better readability for smaller and significantly better contours for larger font sizes and has been specially adapted for the display.

Segoe UI variable is already part of the operating system, but is only gradually being introduced in all visual interface areas. This means that not all visual interfaces use the new font yet.
