Yamaha E01, the electric scooter is approaching its debut

Yamaha & egrave; more and more; engaged in the electricity sector. In addition to having presented several engines for electric cars, the Japanese brand & egrave; joined, together with Honda, Piaggio and KTM, of a consortium that will work; to create a standard for interchangeable batteries for the two-wheeler industry. At the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha also showed the E01 , a concept of an electric scooter. A model that now seems very close to debut.

NEW PATENTS

We found a first clue a few months ago when Yamaha registered the name E01 at the & # 39; European Union Intellectual Property Office. Now, thanks to a series of patents filed in Japan & egrave; possible to take a first look at the production version of this future new electric scooter. The Japanese manufacturer seems to want to adopt less futuristic lines, opting for a more ugrave design; traditional.

After all, the concept was characterized by some stylistic choices that would hardly have arrived in a possible production version, also due to homologation problems. Nothing strange, however, prototypes have always had particular and extreme looks. The interesting thing is; that Yamaha seems willing to continue to propose a model with a appearance in the middle & agrave; road between motorcycles and scooters . A setting that should also have positive effects on driving dynamics.

Looking at the drawings you can & ograve; note, however, that the battery pack will not be; removable. Therefore, it seems that the future Yamaha E01 will not be; compatible with the battery swap system that the consortium mentioned at the beginning is working on. As for the powertrain, there is no precise information. The scooter should be an alternative to the endothermic 125cc models and therefore it is rumored that the power offered should be around 11 kW (15 HP) .

This is numbers that must be taken with due caution since there is no official information. In any case, the E01 will be able to benefit from brilliant acceleration thanks to the characteristics of the electric motors. When could it be officially presented? Also in this case there are no precise indications. The patent drawings, however, suggest that Yamaha may be not too far from bringing this new battery-powered model to its debut.

All that remains is to be patient and await the arrival of new information on the E01.
