Dynabook addresses the new 14 inch Satellite Pro C40-H notebook to cost-conscious business users, schoolchildren and students and at the same time donates more to the larger 15-inch Satellite Pro C50-H Performance and functionality. In addition, the choice of display, memory and storage options should grow.

Entry-level notebook with 14-inch display and Intel Ice Lake

Dynabook's new release is the 14-inch Satellite Pro C40-H, which optionally comes with an anti-glare display and, according to the manufacturer, “narrow bezels”. Resolutions of HD (1,344 × 768) or Full HD (1,920 × 1,080) are possible as options. Despite the cost-efficient orientation, the notebook should be well positioned in terms of interfaces. Among other things, the Satellite Pro C40-H has USB Type-C with charging, connection and display functions.

In addition to two normal USB connections via type A sockets, a standard HDMI output and an SD card reader can be found on the almost 19 mm high housing. The factory-installed WLAN module transmits according to the Wi-Fi 5 standard (formerly 802.11ac). Another connection option to the network is a classic RJ45 port with gigabit speed. An HD webcam, stereo speakers and a Cortana-compatible microphone are also part of the equipment package of the Satellite Pro C40-H.

Without dGPU running times of a maximum of 10 hours

Intel's 10th generation notebook processors (Ice Lake-U), which are flanked by expandable RAM of up to 16 GB and SSD storage options, are making their way into Dynabook's 14-inch model as an inexpensive extension of the Satellite Pro series to 512 GB. According to the information available, a dedicated graphics unit from Nvidia, as offered by the manufacturer as an alternative in the Satellite Pro L50-G, should not be used. Instead, the GPU integrated in the processor takes over its tasks and takes care of the calculation of the image signals. Dynabook specifies the weight of the Satellite Pro C40-H as 1.55 kg. Depending on the configuration, a battery life of up to 10 hours should be possible for mobile use.

Satellite Pro C50-H can be selected in four configurations

Meanwhile, the larger 15-inch Satellite Pro C50-H notebook is the successor to the Satellite Pro C50-E and, in a broader sense, a modification of the Satellite Pro L50-G model family presented at the end of 2019 and released at the beginning of the year. Dynabook also sees the target group of cost-conscious business users, schoolchildren and students as the main customer. The predecessor should primarily be surpassed in terms of performance, functionality and screen options. A new equipment variant with a full HD display, which offers a maximum brightness of 250 cd/m², is particularly emphasized.

Like the Satellite Pro C40-H, the new edition with 15-inch display also uses processors from Intel from the Ice Lake-U family (test), which are supported by up to 16 GB of RAM from the DDR4-3200 standard, depending on the equipment variant. The mass storage device in the form of an M.2 SSD can be up to 512 GB in size. Dynabook states a weight of 1.76 kg and a battery life of up to 9.5 hours for the Satellite Pro C50-H, without specifying the capacity of the energy storage device. In terms of interfaces, the new 15-inch model is on a par with the smaller 14-inch model.

The starting price is 619 euros

Both the Satellite Pro C40-H and the Satellite Pro C50-H are “expected to be available from the end of the year” in the Dynabook online shop at a price from 699 euros (RRP including VAT). >
