Laurel Hubbard, who was born Gavin Hubbard, changed gender at the age of 35 and then started competing in weightlifting as a woman.

In 2017, he competed in the World Cup and won silver in his superweight class.

Thanks to the qualifying rules, the 43-year-old is now in practice ready to participate in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, writes DN.

The rules approve that men who consider themselves be women and retain their testicles may participate in the Olympics. The condition that their testosterone levels must have remained below a certain level for at least one year before the competition.
