Archive image.Image: Johan Nilsson/TT Criminal policy has become an increasingly important issue for voters, according to surveys conducted by the opinion institute Ipsos for Dagens Nyheter. In the latest survey, law and order is kept higher than ever before. It was for a long time a much less prioritized issue, but public opinion swung in 2017, which coincides with an increasing firearm violence in the country. At the same time, gang crime and criminal sanctions have climbed high on the political agenda. In February last year, the corresponding proportion was 18 percent. Immigration – which includes both migration and integration – is still considered the most important issue. Healthcare comes shortly thereafter and then comes law and order.
