He had given the most Beautiful and Famous in front of his camera, without him there would not be a “supermodel”. Even under the best photographers in the world, Peter Lindbergh was in a class by itself.

The internationally-known German fashion – and star photographer Peter Lindbergh is dead. He died with 74 years in France. Famous for his pictures of Models Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford are. Lindbergh worked for famous fashion designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier and Giorgio Armani, as well as for international magazines such as “Vogue” and “Vanity Fair” and the German “star”. He shaped the fashion photography, especially with its striking black and white images. The Kunsthal Museum in the Dutch city of Rotterdam was dedicated to Lindbergh in 2016, a major retrospective under the title of “A Different History of Fashion” (A history of fashion). In the year 2017, the pictures were to be seen also in Munich.

One of his most famous pictures: “White Shirts” with Estelle Léfebure, Karen Alexander, Rachel Williams, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz & Christy Turlington (1988)

Lindbergh is considered the “father” of Supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. The history of photography, he wrote with a picture of six later Supermodels in white shirts, which appeared in 1988 in “Vogue”. “I can’t imagine, to make a picture without telling a story,” was his motto. In the centre of his work, the man was always as an individual and as part of the company. “Of course,” and “real” he wanted to the women, but also men. “If you have the Courage to be yourself, then you are beautiful.” Therefore he held nothing of the image editing software Photoshop. Thus, every human being will be reduced, ultimately to Zero.

He was born in 1944 under the name of Peter Brodbeck in the then German-occupied wartheland (today Poland). His family was expelled to Germany and settled down in Duisburg. After an apprenticeship as a window dresser and a painting, and study of design in Krefeld, Germany, he first worked as a commercial photographer. His breakthrough Lindbergh had then in 1978, with a fashion photo spread for the “star”. Later, he worked together with all famous designers.
