The global mobile phone market shrinks. The last Apple. But rival Huawei has by the attacks of the US President, not as easy. Samsung to again. Fairphone is trying it on.
The number of worldwide Smartphones sold has decreased, recent market data shows again. Especially the demand for expensive mobile phones continued to decline. The one on Tuesday published a study by the market research Institute Gartner shows. A total of were sold 368 million Smartphones in the second quarter, 1.7 per cent less than in the previous year.
Market leader Samsung grew after six quarters of decline in a row for the first time again and gain market share, as the Figures show. However, it should be cooled in the course of the last few weeks, the demand for Samsung’s Flagship phone S10 gradually, it said in the analysis.
The demand for the iPhones from Apple declined further, albeit at a slower pace than at the beginning of the year. Apparently, the current owner of the Top models see no reason to renew it for a lot of money for your devices, said Gartner Analyst Anshul Gupta. Also, it does not give enough incentives for users with mid-range phones to more expensive models switch. “I reckon that a larger proportion of the sales will be in the price range of 300 to 400 dollars,” predicted Gupta. These devices offer many users a sufficient performance.
Huawei: China’s success – problems in the USA
“The market will shrink even more”
Despite the U.S. sanctions, the Chinese rival, Huawei has won new customers and came closer to his goal, the world’s number one worker. Especially in the home market, the Apple rival has experienced a boom in demand. With 58 million Smartphones, almost 20 million more Huawei in the second quarter already in mobile phones than iPhones on the counter.
The U.S. action against the Chinese Huawei group will decelerate according to the experts the entire Smartphone market. Although it is clear that especially the market leader, Samsung, as well as Chinese rivals such as Xiaomi to profit and a part of the current Huawei customers could attract, said Gupta. “I don’t assume that the declines in Huawei-offset sales of other players. As a result, the market will shrink a little more.”
Samsung remained in the second quarter, the clear number one in the world market and increased its market share, according to calculations by Gartner year on year from 19.3 to 20.4 percent. The market share of Huawei rose from 13.3 to 15.8 per cent – but there was a significant drop, after the company was set up in mid-may by the U.S. government under President Trump on a black list. So American companies are allowed to make only with special permission business with Huawei.
