Deutsche Welle: German readers can look forward to now that you can finally read the next “Millennium”crime. David Lagercrantz: Oh, no, I’m going to love Lisbeth Salander, but I am, in many ways, a Journalist of the old school, who always needs new challenges. And if I just make only so on, then this could possibly be Routine – and that would be a shame for the fantastic books and the scenario, created by Stieg Larsson. Therefore, it is for me as a writer is important to find a new task.

Your continuation of Larsson’s “Millennium Rose”series is extremely successful. The books are selling as a batch, and the films will be shown throughout the world. Have them write to the publishers and film producers made no pressure to continue?
Yes, but, there was a lot of pressure. You will have me dunned again and again, but to let a few more books to follow. But I’m absolutely sure that I’ll leave it at that. Of this third, the last Band in my opinion, is my best. It is time to do something else.

No. I mean, in the beginning, when you asked me, I was very excited. I almost cried, yeah, I do, because I loved Larsson’s books and his characters, and I found a great assignment. But by the time I got scared, of course, whether I would make it, to meet the high quality standards. But in the end, it was a great pleasure, just fantastic.
How much is Stieg Larsson is still in the “Millennium”thrillers and your staff? Or do you have the figures now to complete?
Of course, the protagonists of this awesome have been invented of the author, but they are now entirely my own. I’ve considered it as part of my Mission, the characters and their mysterious Aura is still something to add to make it even more complex. I can tell that this super-strong girl in my last book, eventually, weakness. She hesitates, and I’ve always dreamed of, that Lisbeth Salander is a bit broken, because she was always controlled and strong. So this time, you will be in a dramatic scene at the end is weak.
As it was in 2013, started on Larsson’s novel series Rose write more, and as a “conspiracy” of 2015 was published, a great deal of controversy, whether that would be allowed. Is all of this lays in the meantime?
The Wind has turned since then completely. You had the Swedish press at the time, prior to the publication, to see! The contributions were of a bright madness, I dominated the headlines. At once the atmosphere was completely different.
I am very pleased that the well is gone, not only for my own sake, but also for Stieg Larsson. Now a new Generation is reading his books, and we are working on a documentary about his political commitment. All have won, that’s what I feel, and the characters became even more cult.

You have worked as a Journalist for the magazine “Expressen”. How much the truth needs to get stuck in a crime?
A lot, I think. As a crime writer, you can do what you want. But I think it is easier to write crime novels, if you know what is behind the things. It is very good to research for Fiction, first in a journalistic style. I try to do that always, I’m deep. I’ve always said that journalists should have a command of literary techniques. But just as any good fiction needs good literature, journalistic investigation. You have to know what to write.
They are originally become as the author of biographies known primarily as the author of “I am Zlatan Ibrahimovic”. You have mentioned that you are working on a new crime. But you will be back to work biographically?
No, I will stay on the criminalistic Genre faithful, I have just signed a contract. I have an idea that I consider myself to be brilliant, inspires me. Now I have to prove that I can write good books with my own characters.
I don’t think you have yet to prove anything.
Myself I have the on all the cases. And to have a bit of fear, perhaps, is not bad at all, because it drives one to work hard.

No, I have no title yet, but I know that I’ll flirt a bit with Sherlock Holmes, with a depressiveren, darker Sherlock Holmes. And there will be a female Dr. Watson from the suburbs. So I have a protagonist from the upper layer and one from a social focal point, and I’m very curious to see how you will get along with each other. The biggest challenge for me is that I’m going to write from the perspective of a woman. A woman with a very different Background than myself. The is not without.
Is already a release date?
Yes, in 2021 for the first Band. I signed with my Swedish publisher, a contract for three books with international licenses, we will sell at the Frankfurt book fair. I come then to Germany.
