The Dutchman Max Verstappen has conquered in the Grand Prix of Hungary just outside of Budapest for the first Time ever in his career Pole Position in a formula 1 race.
Behind Hockenheim-winner Verstappen, the Finn Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes starts on Sunday (15:10/RTL and Sky). Bottas-team-mate and world champion Lewis Hamilton opened up the second row of the grid in third place.
Vettel only Fifth
Sebastian Vettel managed in the Ferrari in Fifth place, only in the third row, and must go to a place behind his team-mate Charles Leclerc in the race. Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg put his Renault to start in eleventh place and missed the last section of qualifying (Q3) just to get a rank. His Australian team-mate Daniel Ricciardo’s surprising that already in Q1 and will start only from 18th place.
Verstappen happy
“Incredibly, the Pole is all I need. The car felt good, thanks to the Team. I really am very, very happy, but the race is still to ride, this is the most Important thing,” said Verstappen after his great Qualifying. World champion Hamilton was on the microphone directly, a fight announcement for the start of the race on Sunday: “I’m always up for a fight. It is morning, a long way to curve 1. I hope people get something for their money.”
Vettel drew attention in an Interview with RTL to Setup cons on Ferrari: “I was in the third sector is not fast enough, we have too little Grip, too little Downforce in comparison to the other. In terms of the pure Pace, we are behind Red Bull and Mercedes. Tomorrow a lot will go on the tyres, let’s wait.”
