Adib Harb was the first Lebanese in Germany selling store Oriental specialities in a delicatessen. In his business in the Tiergarten was also the chess boards and utensils in addition to Humus and spices.

As Adib Harb in 1984, his Lebanese delicatessen opened in the bustling Potsdamer Straße, had Hummus and grape leaves, Tahini and Tabouleh touches the palate of most of Berlin’s never. “We were the first Lebanese delicatessen in Germany,” says Adib Harb. “And we have done a real work of enlightenment for Lebanese food.” A bulk of the Goods was non-offered packs – for practical reasons, because the spices, Dry and pulses were delivered in large sacks.
Without knowing it, advance was Adib Harb already in the 1980s, of his time. “We had to build a lot yourself: the container for the Goods, the kidneys Shovel to portio,” explains Adib Harb. Meeting at Harb
As Adib Harb 1967 in West-Berlin arrived, he felt immediately at ease. The size of the city didn’t like him, even if it was so international. He graduated in Economics, worked at fairs and flew again and again to Beirut. Originally Adib Harb wanted to supply wholesalers with fresh Goods from the Lebanon. But as the word got around, asked more and more people for smaller amounts. As Adib Harb finally opened his Shop, he was quick to the Institution, especially in the Lebanese Community.
“It’s not unheard of in Berlin. Therefore, it is often said: ‘We are meeting at Harb’,” he says proudly. Today, he pulls back slowly out of business. His children have taken over, are now selling the pistachios and spices, chess boards, dishes and craftsmanship. However, separate Adib can’t Harb from his Shop. You can find him there almost every day. “I’m here at home,” he says.
