If on 14. April 2019 starts the last season of “Game of Thrones”, is the Berlin actor Marc man Crack as the leader of the Golden company. In a DW Interview, he told of the shooting.
DW: Mr crack man, you will play in the eighth and final season of the Fantasy series “Game of Thrones”, Harry Strickland, the leader of the Golden company. The secrecy prior to the series finale is great. How much they were allowed to self in the run-up to know?
Marc’s crack man: Very little. You don’t want to spoilers, because that would spoil it for the viewers. You want to see this series and you and feel and smell. The secrecy, therefore, is a service to the viewers. Of course, there is the case of the screenplays, the usual restrictions on what you can get and at what time. But this is in the case of international productions at this level anyway Standard.
When did you start shooting?
We have to turn at the end of October. But before that, there was a costume samples: you take Your measurements and look at Your hair. The whole season was filmed, I believe, for about a year, because you want to finish the series with the biggest Bang of all times.
It is unbelievable, there were three units shooting in parallel. You come with reverence to the Set. The attention to Detail is almost microscopic, even with the extras, of which there are 500. You could basically make a Close up of each, although it is only 200 meters away somewhere in a wide-angle setting.
Have you read for the preparation of the novel about your character?
I did a little research on who this Person is and where she comes from. The books are pretty accurate. And then if you look at the scripts and compare: What is similar, where there are differences? This world is so well thought out! It is a functioning world. I think that’s why she is so appealing, because there are people who speak different languages, who also have a logic. You can learn the languages, everything is so detailed.
In the TV series “Game of Thrones” you will hear many different accents. They had to practice for it?
There were always two trainers on the Set, the corrected little things here and there. So it sounds like it should sound.
They occurred in Shakespeare performances at the Theater and have played in the German crime series before they appeared in English-language productions. How did it come about?
My career has built step by step. I studied acting, some of the time, the Theater made is actually very traditional. And then I turned a little bit here and there, also thrillers for TV.
Then I spent some more time in America, a couple of people met and contact with an agent. Since then, it has built up slowly and I have also acted in international productions: “The Last Kingdom”, “Into the Badlands”, “Overlord”, “Riviera”. I’ve just finished the filming for “The Man in The High Castle” for Amazon.
How is it to play not in their native language, but in English?
I like it because it has a different dynamic, as the emotions flow. It is a differently constructed language, which is sometimes helpful. Especially if I can get a very complicated Text in which there are not words that you use often. Then I think: “Oh my God, I need to remember this word,” I must make it my Own. Because it is best, if you play from memory or a feeling and not a word of thinks. So you are trying to create a Plan so that you can intuitively act.

With Tom Wlaschiha and Sibel Kekilli, there were already two German actors in “Game of Thrones”. Have you contacted them and the experience spoken?
Tom I met two weeks ago, we had a long conversation. I could not remember a time many years ago when I was studying acting. He was friends with my neighbors and was sitting quite often in a Café nearby. “Game of Thrones” was great for him. The series has made him known in the world, which is great.
There are often breaks. You had the opportunity to learn in the waiting period, the main characters know, since the first season?
Actually, I’ve met almost everyone, which was nice. A few people I already knew. I shot a Film called “Overlord” with Pilou Asbæk, Euron Greyjoy plays. And got to know Kit Harington earlier, which was nice, because I with his present wife (Rose Leslie, who starred in “Game of Thrones” Ygritte; Anm. d. editorial) am friends. Actually, you are like all the others. The only difference is that you see with “Game of Thrones” in every living room on TV.
We will see you throughout the season or only in the individual episodes?
I don’t know it. The beauty of this series is: You don’t know what is going to happen. It was one of the first series, in which it has been said: “It is not possible that this Person died!” So, we’ll see.
