In times in which many young people watch movies on a small screen, on the tablet or the Smartphone, such a large-format book is actually a miracle. As George Lucas’ “Star Wars” came out in 1977 in the cinema, as the light were houses of game premieres the first address for the Cinema. The TV audience had to wait a long time until a movie appeared on the home screen. And the various video cassette systems began to establish themselves in the first place.

The old Star Wars movies you see today almost only in the small format

Today, Netflix, Amazon and co. to fight for market share, the video cassette is long gone, the cinema is trying to compete with big Blockbuster movies. The old “Star Wars”episodes can be viewed on DVD and Blu-ray, or the various Streaming services available for purchase. Episodes 1 – 3 one looks best on a big screen TV. However, the Smartphone is in the case of the renewable Generation is now more popular than the “Old-School”Medium of television.

And so the German TASCHEN published a voluminous book, “The Star Wars archives”, to be released simultaneously in German and English, with his large format photos almost the more impressive visual experience. At over 600 pages, the reader will find everything he wants to know, provided he/she is the “Star Wars”Fan. For all the diehard lovers of American space Opera, the seven-Kilo Band in XXL Format turns out to be a cinematic grab bag.

The book was developed in close collaboration with Star Wars Creator George Lucas and his production company “Lucasfilm”. The Director wrote with his third game-the movie 1977 cinema history, has made his personal Archive available, and the Band willingly all the Details. That Lucas is an almost religious relationship to his first Star Wars maintains, in the meantime, self-films, is already in the Preface significantly, he controls most beige person.

Star Wars as a personal philosophy of life

“Yes, it is possible that we are connected on a spiritual level, all in a way that is beyond the Arising and ceasing of various forms of life,” philosophizes Lucas there. For George Lucas, the films he made then later mostly from other stage and developed to a huge Franchise company, to a billion-dollar business. In the core, the man believes George Lucas is fond of, contained at least the Ur-Star-Wars-Film-a personal philosophy of life: “Darth Vader is the bad father. Ben Kenobi is the good father,” it says, and continues: “war of the stars was born from my desire to make a modern fairy tale. By fairy-tale people learn of Good and Evil and how to behave in society.” This is almost “Old School”.
