Uganda: Kasese wants to glow with renewable power
Project goal: 100% renewable electricity in the district of Kasese in Uganda by 2020.
Project implementation: Not only households but also hospitals and schools to renewable energy, change – especially on solar energy. And also the water force is to be expanded. In addition, the mayor and the administration of the district’s energy want to establish a more efficient Stoves. And, of course, plant trees.
Project scope: In the district of Kasese in the southwest of Uganda is home to almost 700,000 people in almost 400,000 households. The project aims to reach them all.
Avoided emissions: 58.786 tonnes of CO2, according to the implementation of the project, a year can be saved.
“People of the snow” – the inhabitants of the Region at the foot of the Rwenzori call themselves mountains in Uganda. The snow-capped mountains, the people owe not only their name but also their livelihoods: the melt water.
