Melodifestivalen 2019: The German candidate

Our song for Israel: Seven young Acts will fight for the participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. They all want to sing for Germany and follow in the footsteps of Michael Schulte, 2018 ESC was Fourth.



The selection process was elaborate: A 100-strong Jury of German musicians, journalists and Fans, as well as a more international 20-member jury was selected from almost 200 applicants – which in turn had to survive a pre-selection. In further evaluation steps, the juries came, ultimately, to the now established field of Applicants.

The young artists have prepared in recent weeks, including during a Songwriting camp. There they had the opportunity, together with national and international songwriters to collaborate. Almost all of the Songs, we at 22.2. will hear the results of the Workshops and the artists have been written. Only one song has been submitted by an international composer of the team and the juries found to be suitable.

The Show on Friday (22. February 2019) will also be transferred from the Deutsche Welle live from the 2015 MDGs. The international preliminary contests will last until 9. March. It is already clear: The field of participants in Tel Aviv will again be mixed. Now it is up to the German audience and to the juries to have the right instincts.
