A week before the start of the Alpine Ski world, Marcel Hirscher has put the home match under floodlights, a character and his role of favorite in the Slalom underpinning Championships in the Swedish city of Are. Of over 45,000 Fans frenetically cheered on by sat Hirscher with a whopping 1.21 seconds ahead of Frenchman Alexis Pinturault, third in the Swiss Team the Olympic champion, Daniel Yule (+1,60). For Hirscher it was the fourth slalom win in Schladming to 2012, and 2018 (the world Cup) and 2013 (WM) and the 68. World Cup victory of his career.
Hirscher’s big rival, Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway, eliminated in the second round. For the French Clement Noel, a recent winner of the prestigious slalom in Wengen and Kitzbühel, was Schladming ended after just six seconds in the first round.
Neureuther good Aft
A success for us, Felix Neureuther, who finished in the final eight rank achieved. In the first pass, Neureuther had come without significant error to the target, 2.26 seconds behind Hirscher on place twelve. “The vote didn’t fit, I was, in the end, no chance,” said the veteran, who in 2012 was in the world Cup and the 2013 world Cup was Second twice in Schladming, 2015 as the third on the podium.
